Design For Good 2022

From 15 August 2022 to 30 August 2022

NTU, 50 Nanyang Avenue Singapore 639798

The COVID-19 pandemic has forced the adoption of new ways of living, thinking and working.

While we look ahead to the new norm with cautious optimism, there is a desire for deeper engagement of our identity and inner creativity.

A collaboration between Student Affairs Office and the School of Art, Design and Media (ADM), DESIGN FOR GOOD is back for another year with new voices waiting to be heard, and new passions ready to shine.

A curation of selected final year projects across various impactful mediums have let the budding artists of the School of Art, Design and Media (ADM) come up with ways to improve society and communities.

Themes range from culture to technology – and help visitors raise awareness about issues they are passionate about, provide advocacy and aid opportunities, as well as drive meaningful social change.

Stand to win one of 10 Starbucks gift cards (worth $10 each) when you vote for your favourite inspiring project and complete a feedback form.

Date: 15 – 30 August 2022

Venue: Marketplace @ North Spine Plaza

Cost: Free

If you’re into products with natural and sustainable ingredients, you’ll be happy to hear that Sugar & Spice, the first local palm-free vegan soap maker, will be conducting an easy-to-learn, informative and fun natural soap making class.

Palm-free natural soap is the greenest and most environmentally-friendly option, and by making your own, you can finally say goodbye to the petrochemical-filled detergent in your shower gel which typically does not biodegrade well.

With a commitment to sustainable lifestyles and resource efficiency, this workshop also implements two of the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals – Responsible Consumption and Production (Goal 12) and Climate Action (Goal 13).

Date: 24 August 2022 (Wed), 12.00 pm – 1.15 pm

Venue: LHN-TR+08 @ The Arc (Level B2)

Cost: $5 (normal suggested price: $33)

Easy-to-wear styles have gained a steady following and a surge in popularity among consumers in recent years – with comfort taking centerstage while still looking acceptable and even attractive for social situations.

As Singapore prides itself in building a caring and inclusive society, apparel brand Werable innovates easy-to-wear styles, regardless of mobility and getting dressed can continued to be a dignified experience. In collaboration with occupational therapists, people with disabilities and caregivers, Werable designs easy-to-wear clothes that can be worn with one hand.

What is adaptive fashion? Have you heard about easy-grip wraps, zipper-free dress where you can wear with one hand, and catheter-friendly pants?

Featured recently in fashion platforms such as Vogue, Men’s Folio, Tatler, Harper’s Bazaar Singapore, and even a recently concluded pop-up showcase at National Design Centre, come and hear from Claudia Poh, Founder and designer of Werable. Claudia will share insights about her business, as well as some of her challenges. There will also be a Q&A segment after her presentation.
