Green For Good 2021

NTU, 50 Nanyang Avenue Singapore 639798

The food that we eat, the water that we drink, the air that we breathe — it is not an overstatement to say that everything in our life revolves around the environment. But while we are dependent on the environment, many of us urbanites have become distanced from nature. Shielded in concrete, air-conditioned buildings, many of us have forgotten the intrinsic value of nature, and live comfortable lifestyles without worrying about our impact on the environment.

If you are disturbed by this modern phenomenon, you are not alone. Let’s channel our youthful energy into creating an equitable and sustainable future for all generations. If you believe in our mission and want to make a tangible impact, join us at GREEN FOR GOOD to find out how!

Register now at http://bit.ly/register-greenforgood to receive more details and the respective Zoom links! Every participant would receive a door gift when you participate in any of the activities during Green for Good 2021.

In addition, stand a chance to win lucky draw prizes when you participate in at least 2 of the activities (listed below) in Green For Good 2021 AND attend the Closing Ceremony on 1 April. The more activities you participate, the higher your chances of winning the lucky draw prizes.

The Eco-Campus Portfolio has officially launched the Bring Your Own Container (BYOC) campaign in NTU. It is now a well-proven fact that the number one way to significantly minimise our ecological footprint is to cut down on our consumption of meat.

Many of us find it hard to make that shift, partly because we are unaware of the vegetarian/vegan options out there. Earthlink is here to make this easier for you and our planet!

‘Meatless Mondays’ will be launched on both Mondays of Green For Good 2021, where vegetarian options would be provided in selected canteens (see details below).

Date: 22 & 29 March 2021

Venue: North Spine Food Court, Fine Food @ South Spine, Crescent Pioneer Hall Canteen, North Hill Food Court, Tamarind Hall Canteen, Canteen 1 and Canteen 2

In collaboration with Bye Bye Plastic Bags and Earthlink’s Community Engagement portfolio, the Fashion Treasure Workshop aims to introduce fast fashion issues and solutions to tackle them for its participants.

In this workshop, participants are encouraged to bring in their own fabric waste, which would then be used for crafting one of two items of the participant’s choice: a cup-holder or tissue-holder.

Cloth, sewing equipment and thread will be provided to all participants.

Participants are then encouraged to decorate their craft creatively, where a voting session will be held at the end to determine which participant will gain the title of ‘Best Crafter’!

Attractive prizes to be won! So what are you waiting for? Sign up here now!

Earth Hour is a worldwide movement organised by the World Wide Fund for Nature (WWF). The event is held annually encouraging individuals, communities, and businesses to turn off non-essential electric lights, for one hour, from 8.30 pm to 9.30 pm on a specific day towards the end of March, as a symbol of commitment to the planet. It was started as a lights-off event in Sydney, Australia, in 2007. Since then, it has grown to engage more than 7,000 cities and towns across 187 countries and territories to raise awareness for energy consumption and effects on the environment.

Since 2014, Earthlink NTU has been organising Earth Hour events to engage the South West district community (CDC). The Earth Hour programmes in the past 3 years had been held at Jurong Spring Community Centre and Hong Kah North CC.

This time, Earth Hour 2021 will be organised at West Coast CC and Earthlink will be co-organising 4 segments in conjunction with West Coast Youth Network. The Guest-Of-Honour for the event is Mr S. Iswaran, Minister for Communications and Information & Minister-in-charge of Trade Relations and Member of Parliament for West Coast GRC.

The event will be streamed live on Facebook, with engaging videos (e.g. dance performances from NTU Cultural Activities Club’s MJ Hip Hop and Indian Dance) and interactive quizzes centered around 3 themes of Carbon Lite Living, Recycling, and Gardening/Composting.

Date/Time: 27 March 2021, 7.00 pm – 8.30 pm
