Lecture IV (The Future: Governance, Unintended Consequences and the Redemption of Hope)

Synopsis:
The future cannot be predicted. But it is the business of government to prepare for the future. How can governments maximise the chances of good outcomes, and generate optimism for the future? This fourth lecture draws the threads of the previous three lectures, and concludes by providing some pointers for the future

Speaker:
Mr Peter Ho is the 2016/17 S R Nathan Fellow for the Study of Singapore.

He is also the Senior Advisor to the Centre for Strategic Futures, a Senior Fellow in the Civil Service College, an Adjunct Professor at the S. Rajaratnam School of International Studies, and a Visiting Fellow at the Lee Kuan Yew School of Public Policy.

The IPS-Nathan Lectures are delivered by the S R Nathan Fellow for the Study of Singapore. Between four and six lectures are held each year on the NUS campus. The lecture series aims to enrich the already-vibrant intellectual and cultural life on campus, by advancing public understanding and discussion of issues of critical national interest.
