While Singapore is touted as a “City in a Garden”, many people may not fully appreciate the biodiversity that surrounds them on a day to day basis, due to a lack of awareness on local flora and fauna. To the untrained eye, our urban landscape may even seem like just a concrete jungle.
Organised by Earthlink NTU, participants will embark on an immersive guided nature walk to uncover the natural treasures found in the Lakeside Garden.
As a public park surrounded by residential flats, shopping malls and schools, the Lakeside Garden is urban, conveniently located, and heavily visited by all. And yet, it is also a confluence of ecosystems ranging from rainforests to freshwater. It is an important part of Singapore’s Active, Beautiful and Clean Waters (ABC Waters) Programme, which aim to integrate Singapore’s environment, water bodies, and community. It is a green oasis, home to a wide variety of tropical plants, butterflies, native and migratory birds, and more.
