Event: International Coastal Cleanup Singapore 2019

Date: 19 Oct 2019, Sat – 19 Oct 2019, Sat

Time: 7:00 AM – 11:45 AM
Location: Lim Chu Kang Beach and Mangrove

Description:

Did you know that more than eight trillion kilograms of rubbish are dumped into our oceans annually? Marine trash not only kills underwater creatures and seabirds- it also ends up in our food and our drinking supply. Findings from reputable sources show that an average person consumes 5 grams of plastic in just one week alone. That is equivalent to chowing down on a credit card!

The International Coastal Cleanup is a movement organised in over 70 countries worldwide. Every year, people from all walks of life come together with the same goal in mind: to clean up our seas, and collect important data to be used by governments in environmental policy-making.

Singapore’s waters, as part of the Coral Triangle, are home to more than half of the world’s reef fish, and a whopping three-quarters world’s coral species! If we fail to take care of our local seas, the impact on the global marine ecosystem can be devastating.

Marine trash kills. Organised by Earthlink NTU, lend a helping hand in the International Coastal Cleanup Singapore 2019!

Two-way transport will be provided from/back to NTU. The gathering point would be at NTU Pavillion @ Tan Chin Tuan Lecture Theatre.
