Sound of Subtle Presence

By Abshar Platisza | Professional (International category)

“I just love to do what I love. I like to draw from when I was a child. as time goes by, my interest and hobbies are expanding as well. being an artist is an adventure for me, seeking something new while doing what I love… I still consider myself to be a young artist at the early stage of my career, and I don’t want to limit myself as a specific artist ‘species’. Why not if conventional media can be a channel for new artistic potential? My basic is printmaking back then, and I can take a lot from the conventional work process in the past.”

This work is about intraspecies coexistence and the other entity within the artificial oscillation where bacteria grow on the celluloid film and take over the images, marked by the colour changes of the biochemical process. With the growth of bacteria colonies that continuously ‘eat’ the images of daily human activity, this work metaphorises the idea of temporariness of living things. Changes in colour and gas reactions are monitored and processed by a computer sensor, and translated into specific soundwaves to produce an audio-visual experience from a temporal rhythm.
