Campus scout is a location-based social network on smart phone devices. User can check information of different buildings, places in the University, rate and comment on venues by pinpointing them from the campus map. Basically, it functions as a map service to help you identify your current location, what venues are nearby and how to get there (see figure 3). More details can be retrieved when user clicks on one building from the map. The floor plans of rooms will be shown(see figure 4) and one can see the detailed information such as operating hours, booking schedule and facilities provided in the rooms. By integrating the social elements, one can see which venue has new comments and new ratings. Every user not only can rate and comment one room, they can also see the whereabouts of his/her friends on the map. The application would calculate which venue has the highest average rating in specific time duration and provide a list of recommended places. (i.e. “best study room”, “favorite canteen”, etc.) for users’ reference. (see figure 5)
