Oak

Tepid tea on my fingertips

My gaze on the luminesce eclipse

Bamboo brush in one hand

And peace in the other

The moonlight beamed

In scattered streams

Onto the unbothered trees

And the serene seas

Emerald plains occupy my sight

As the songbirds take flight

So did the bristles

As the Oolong trickled

Every wave

And every stroke

Had come to engrave

Every oak

This poem is written through the lens of an artist during the Tang dynasty where figure painting and landscape painting reached great heights of maturity and beauty.
