Literature Online (LION)

Literature Online contains over 350,000 literary works and is the leading full-text database for research in English Literature. It has searchable full texts of poetry, drama and prose, as well as authors’ biographies, literature journals and other key criticism and reference resources. View its Database Information Page. MLA International Bibliography (via EBSCOhost)

This bibliography is compiled by Modern Language Association and it indexes scholarly books and articles in literature, modern languages, linguistics and folklore from internationally published journals and series. It also covers monographs, proceedings, bibliographies and electronic materials. It has a companion database – MLA Directory of Periodicals – which provides information about journals and book series.  The MLA International Bibliography (MLAIB) is accessible both as a stand alone database and also within Literature Online, where it is cross-searchable with ABELL (the MHRA’s Annual Bibliography of English Language and Literature) and over 130 full-text journals. JSTOR

JSTOR provides access to archival and current issues of more than 1,400 scholarly journals across more than 50 academic disciplines. Published by the John Hopkins University Press, this peer reviewed journal hosts the most relevant and comprehensive collection of critical essays on this topic.

Configurations: A Journal of Literature, Science, and Technology (Journal)

Also published by the JHU press, Configurations explores the relations of literature and the arts to the sciences and technology.

Medical Humanities (Journal)

Medical Humanities is a leading international journal that reflects the whole field of medical humanities. An official journal of the Institute of Medical Ethics, Medical Humanities features original articles relevant to the delivery of healthcare, the formulation of public health policy, the experience of being ill and of caring for those who are ill.

CASES Journal Archive

CASES Journal is an old, discontinued journal that was an open-source collection of case reports of medical issues. According to the synopsis, the journal hoped that their “contributors will attempt to write case histories like those of Sigmund Freud. To catch the full mystery, excitement, and interest of a case may demand literary skills, and we know that many clinicians and even more patients have such skills.”

Patient Voices Collection

The Patient Voices Collection is a web resource with links to articles, resources, stories and other pages that document stories from a patient’s point of view, to aid discourse, research and improvement in healthcare.
