Injuries and Death of People

Other than threats in terms of income losses, consequences also include the injuries and death of people.

In a journal article about the human-elephant conflict in Way National Kambas Park (WNKP), it was stated that villagers conveyed their fear of imminent calamity caused by the elephants. They anticipate injury or even death to farmers and their families, destruction of their homes and farms as well as income loss.

And it isn’t hard to imagine people would be afraid of this creature – they are 3.2 metres tall and a whopping 4000 kilograms! This can come across as terrifying or even life threatening to any human being.

This causes villagers who fear for their lives or staggering property damage thus are impelled to carry out violent action against the elephants.
