My belief is that what comes across on the television is a capture of my enthusiasm and my passion for wildlife. – Steve Irwin (Scientific American).

Being a firm believer in using education and knowledge to advocate conservation attitudes, Steve never shied away from the spotlight, presenting all forms of reptiles, birds, fishes and insects in the most engaging and exciting manner. His famous catchphrase, “Crikey” became synonymous with his character on shows. His child-like wonder and appreciation towards animals has no doubt inspired a generation of animal lovers.

Besides documentaries, he also appeared as a cameo in Dr Dolittle 2, and provided the voice to the elephant seal, Trev in the 2006 Happy Feet cartoon. He also acted as himself in The Crocodile Hunter: Collision Course. Even after his death, he still appeared in Bindi’s show sharing his knowledge with the public through his children.

He also inspired a generation of fearless meme, often hilarious but still a testament to how even after his death, he is still an inspirational figure to the public. He is childhood hero of many 1980s and 1990s children who have witness him wrangling crocodiles, and snakes of all shape and sizes.
