Sea Turtle with Sliced Shell found dead at Changi

A Green Sea Turtle was found dead at Changi Beach, with a slash almost a metre-long on its shell. Mr Stephen Beng, chairman of the Singapore Nature Society’s Marine Conservation Group, identified it as likely to be a caused by a collision with a boat. This incident reflects the vulnerability of the marine species and how extra caution has to be taken to avoid unintentional harm to the endangered animal.

Fisherman nabbed for turtle slaughter

In Sabah, a fisherman has been nabbed for being involved in a massive turtle slaughter. The incident was first discovered when a photo of eight turtle carcasses with their undershells removed was posted. It sparked the general public’s reaction and went viral on social media. Despite regulations that restrict hunting to only licensed parties in Sabah, illegal hunting has been rampant due to its high economic value.
