What is culture?

A culture is the norms and beliefs associated with a group of people, which encompass many aspects of their society, such as religion, language and arts. It also includes the social practices conducted by the community. For example, in Chinese culture, offering of incense is a practice to show veneration to deities and ancestors.

Chinese culture has a long and deep history that had been recorded as early as 5000 years ago. The Chinese culture is primarily influenced by three systems of beliefs: Buddhism, Taoism and Confucianism, with the former being an external influence that had arrived from India, possibly as early as 300 BC, while the other two, had originated from within China itself. All three had influenced the traditions that many Chinese partake in the present day.
