About Me

Hello! I am Tan Zhi Min. I am a student at Nanyang Technological University.

I chose this topic because I find it one of the more important conservation challenges for Singapore. As you will see, textile waste is not only a problem of waste. It reflects negative societal norms and attitudes that saps away large volumes of the earth’s resources. More importantly, it is a pressing issue for Singapore due to space constrain. Textile waste production, particularly here, is increasing so rapidly yet the Singaporean level of environmental commitment is far from matching up. When are we going to take responsibility?

By taking a closer look at this problem, I hope to encourage you guys to reexamine your choices whenever you click that “pay now” button on your online shopping. Simple daily activities such as purchase of affordable textiles may look seemingly harmless but laden with hidden consequences.
