Anti-Poaching Training Guide for Field Rangers

Wayne put together an international team of experts and trainers, and initiated the development of an anti-poaching training guideline for field rangers. This led to the creation of “Managing Wildlife Crime in Protected Areas: Training Guide for Field Rangers“, for the IUCN’s World Commission on Protected Areas.

In case you’re wondering, “What on earth is IUCN World Comm-what?!”, relax. It’s a global network of protected area expertise, with over 2,000 members from 140 countries. Part of their job is to aid governments in planning protected areas and giving strategic advice to policy makers. You can learn more about them here!

So how did Wayne contribute to this global network i.e. IUCN’s WCPA? His creation of the training guide for field rangers basically shares how rangers can improve their job effectiveness and safety while working in protected areas. It also covers the details and standard of trainings rangers should receive, in order to control poaching safely and efficiently. I thought I would show you a tiny snippet of the document just to share with you how detailed it is.

I do not wish you to bore you with the intricate details, but if you are curious to view the document Wayne and friends had put in so much effort to create, you can do so here.
