WHAT CAN WE DO?

In elephant conservation, there are many stakeholders involved. The main stakeholders are the local and international governments involved in ivory trade, environmental organisations, tourism industries, poachers in their local communities and last but not least, consumers. For each stakeholder, there are measures that can be taken to improve the elephants’ situation and these measures can overlap between the various stakeholders as no party is isolated in causing the decline of elephants. Current solutions are generally targeting the ivory trade, which is the main contributor for the decline in elephants’ population. For easy understanding, the measures can be grouped into three main categories:

Apart from actual measures being taken, below is also a list of my personal suggestions that could aid in elephant conservation efforts.
