Singapore

Given Singapore’s location at the centre of major air and shipping routes, together with its goal of establishing itself as a world class cosmopolitan city and centre of tourism in Southeast Asia, it is inevitably one of the most vulnerable countries in the region to the problem of IAS. Many of the IAS found in Singapore is as a result of human activities. However, given no single agency present to coordinate issues of IAS in Singapore, there has been a lack of knowledge of the severity of impacts IAS has on the local flora and fauna in Singapore. And with its continuous growth in economic activities, unless appropriate measures are set in place, there can be serious impacts due to IAS in the country.
