What have been done by the project

Through local and international involvement and research contributions, this Project has promoted sustainability and enhanced biodiversity in the region, raising awareness across the globe on the necessity of sustaining the natural ecosystems that ensure a brighter future for the wildlife in Botswana.

The Modisa Wildlife Project also starts collaborating with other similar organizations that want to contribute and play a role in the conservation of wildlife.

One of the collaborations was with Dr Kelley and Dr Thoralf from the university of Texas, where they start a research project that aimed to establish a long term program to monitor the Kalahari ecosystem. This research project contributes to many local conservation and protection efforts which ultimately wants people to gain more understanding of the local ecosystem and allow long-term survival of the ecosystem.

In November 2011, they also signed a contract with William De Graaff, owner of Grassland Safari Lodge and started their conservation work by establishing a conservation area for lions by fencing off 10,000 hectare reserve from neighbouring farms. They would then capture the lions and other big cats in conflict with farmers, relocate them to the large protected area where they have enough wild prey to feed on, to spare them from certain death and save their lives.
