A self-edited autobiography by Dian Fossey herself. Published in 1983, Gorillias in the Mist documented her own account of her thirteen years in Africa with the gorillas in an attempt to preserve both the gorillas and their habitat. The book included her own personal adventure story and also scientific reports and observations that the world would not have known without her efforts.Till date, her book is still the best-selling book about gorillas.

The book was later adapted into a film of the same name in 1988. Directed by Michael Apted with Sigourney Weaver as Dian Fossey. Sigourney Weaver later on became the Dian Fossey’s Gorilla Fund International’s honorary chairwoman.
