Jeff first experienced TV setting when a man named Dr. Robert Ballard asked him to be an expedition naturalist for the broadcast on rainforest in Belize in the TV show called JASON project. Jeff was very enthusiastic to share his love for wildlife and putting his theatrical skills to use, he entertainingly broadcast about the ecosystem and wildlife of rainforest in Belize.

Jeff decided to continue down the path of TV shows as a career path and as a channel for him to share his love for wildlife with the rest of the world. He made trailer videos and sent them to various production companies only to receive rejections and negative feedbacks.

In 1996 Jeff decided return to studying for a masters of science degree in wildlife and fisheries conservation at the University of Massachusetts.

After a year of not giving up on his dream of being a television naturalist, Popular Arts Entertainment contacted him in 1997 after they saw his trailer videos and sent them to Disney. Disney has expressed interest to work with Jeff. Hence they began to film a pilot episode named “Going Wild With Jeff Corwin” and it was widely well received by audiences. Jumping at this wonderful opportunity, he put his graduate study on hold while he filmed the show for the next 2 years.

Jeff started to get more and more famous as his entertaining and humourous personality made the show both educational and entertaining. The show, although a great success, ended in 1999. Jeff wanted more. However he decided to focus on his graduate studies first and complete it.

In the same year, Bridgewater State College awarded Jeff with a Ph.D. in education to recognise him for his contributions to the education of the public about caring for the nature and preservation of the environment and its animals.

A few years later, animal planet approached Jeff Corwin to produce the show “The Jeff Corwin Experience” and once again Jeff put his studies on hold while he filmed the show.
