Causes

What drove Singapore to urbanization?

– Globalization
– Increasing population
– Rapid advancement in technology

These causes will be individually addressed in their respective tabs.
HOWEVER, would these causes and the drive towards urbanization lead to great human impacts to the environment?

Well, we do have to consider that, with:

  • Increasing human population (P),
  • Increasing material affluence (A),
  • and Advancement in technology (T),

these variables would multiply with one another, and create a huge impact (I) on the environment.

I = P x A x T

If not being regulated efficiently, these factors would cause environmental problems in Singapore. Read up more on some detrimental effects in Singapore under the “Consequences” tab.
