Conservationists are working with local communities to protect existing elephants, create new wildlife opportunities for them and ensure that the wildlife needs and local communities’ need coincide (Evolutionary Distinct & Globally Endangered, n.d.).

It is imperative to note that in order for small-group/community management to work, the people in the community have to be on the same page and work towards the same goal. They have to interdependent such that they will follow rules out of mutual respect and obligation. When that happens, elephant conservation acts will be a success.
