Kent Ridge Science Parks

1. Background

As of 2014, Singapore’s JTC has started exploring the possibility of constructing a subterranean science park which would house estimated 4,200 workers, among other potential underground development projects. Currently, feasibility studies are being conducted to measure the varied rock and soil formations as well as cost, etc.

2. Critique on Impact:

As mentioned, subterranean conditions provide a largely stable day to day range of temperatures. That said, as the purpose of this new development is scientific in nature, the environmental benefits afforded by the steady temperatures may not be actualized due to the sensitivity of the samples and chemicals, etc. that the workers would be working with.
