Waste Management.

Presently, the waste management in the state is under the responsibility of the National Environment Agency (NEA) ,  a statutory board under the Ministry of Environment and Water Resources. The Ministry oversees the Public Utilities Board (PUB) in addition to NEA.

Firstly, NEA chooses private companies and engage them as “Public waste collectors”. These companies collect domestic and trade waste from all over the island(Bai & Sutanto, 2002).  The latest organisations are Veolia ES Singapore Pte LtdColex Environmental Pte Ltd , SembWaste Pte Ltd and 800 Super Waste Management Pte Ltd.

The other type of waste is general waste. General waste includes waste produced by commercial and industrial activities. These include the construction industry, Sludge and bulky heavy items.
