Excessive Groundwater Usage

A majority of the population receive their water from deep wells in their homes. Not just homes, but groundwater is also being drawn out for industrial purposes as well. This excessive usage is a clear example of the ‘Tragedy of the Commons’. Everyone uses as much as they need without proper monitoring, and it would thus lead to problems.

Over time, this has cause the ground below to become compressed as the water that is keeping it stable has been drawn out. Now, imaging the ground without water; wouldn’t it seem like a dry desert land that might collapse at any time.
