About MYCAT

MYCAT (Malaysian Conservation Alliance for Tigers) is an alliance of non-governmental organisations comprising the Malaysian Nature Society (MNS), Traffic Southeast Asia, Wildlife Conservation Society-Malaysia Programme and WWF-Malaysia and also includes the Department of Wildlife and National Parks.

Malaysian Conservation Alliance for Tigers provides a flexible platform for information exchange, resource consolidation for conservation organizations and members of public, united by the shared goal of recovering tiger populations through collaboration and cooperation.

MYCAT secretariat’s office roles include facilitation of communication between partners to coordinate collaborative efforts and manage joint projects. They also work closely with the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment, assisting and monitoring the implementation of the National Tiger Conservation Action Plan.

Lastly, their role is also to consolidate information from partners and different sources to raise awareness of the need for conservation of tigers.

MYCAT’s Working Group compromises of the secretariat’s office and representatives from partner organizations to accommodate and update each other on the progress in the implementation of the National Tiger Conservation Action Plan. These meetings serve the purpose of discussing emerging issues in order to make collective decisions on MYCAT operations and joint projects.
