The poster draws Singapore Management University Li Ka Shing Library‘s recent initiatives in introducing more e-learning as a response to students‘ feedback to have more library instructional sessions in electronic format. One of the e-learning modules that the library developed was a comprehensive suite of learning objects, titled Our Space, Your Space, which tackles the issues of library etiquette such as noise pollution, hogging practices and littering. Library etiquette seemed too trivial to be brought up in library classes and is perceived as a common knowledge that students should know about. Yet, the necessity of addressing library etiquette has been voiced by many library users. We considered this topic as a perfect candidate for e-learning and delivered it in a preemptive, non-lecturing package of video, animations, images, text and audio. A team, which comprised of five library staff, developed the package with various tools, such as Captivate, Lectora, GoAnimate, SnagIt, Photoshop, etc. Some of the tools were procured by the Centre for Teaching Excellence and shared with library as part of our collaborations. Our Space, Your Space was designed in a non-linear way; student could skip, fast forward, repeat and navigate the content according to his/her own preference. In July 2011, the link to Our Space, Your Space was sent to approximately 2,000 freshmen and about 470 students left their comments and feedback. From the feedback, we found that students rated this e-learning experience as good or excellent (93%) and most (94%) claimed that they now had a better understanding of library etiquette. The freshmen also left positive remarks such as ‘interesting’, ‘useful‘, ‘engaging‘, and ‘fun‘.
