Welcome to my research group’s blog. Materials have played a vital role in shaping society throughout the history of mankind, and they will continue to do so. From the three-ages (stone, bronze, iron) to the industrial revolution and the current industry 4.0 transformation, materials are clearly central to a plethora of technological advancements. Beyond conventional materials that are still an integral part of our lives today, we are witnessing an exponential increase in efforts world-wide to discover new materials, develop new combinations of materials or repurpose existing materials to improve functions and find new applications. The global threats and challenges that our world face today have provided even more fuel to propel research in materials science and engineering: climate change, demand for food, need for clean energy, aging population etc. One research group is not able to solve all the problems in the world, but we are motivated to contribute what we can to make our world a better place. This blog serves to introduce readers to the research work that we have done and are currently doing. Through this sharing, we hope to attract like-minded students and research staff to join us in our efforts, and to invite scientists all over the world to reach out for potential collaborations. Happy reading!
