Working from the grave

Johnny Walker has added a new spokesperson, but he has one difference from the other, it’s the fact that he has been dead for 40 years. I am speaking of the Martial Arts Legend Bruce Lee.

While commercials such as these are good for keeping his spirit and essence alive, it does raise a few eyebrows when it comes to the ethical implications. There are also legal constrictions, because it is not that simple to bring someone back from the dead to sell your product.

But Bruce Lee is not and will not be the last deceased celebrity to sell a product. But to sell a product when you are dead you had to have great impact when you were alive, the dead celebrities that sell products are normally iconic names in entertainment. It’s their reputation and personification that helps to sell the product. 

So who says there is no life after death?
