Good news – the EID exhibition is back again at Lee Wee Nam Library exhibition area! Last year Engineering Library worked with the School of Mechanical & Aerospace Engineering (MAE) to showcase, for the first time, student works for their EID (Engineering, Innovation & Design) programme at LWNL. This year we have more of these interesting projects like phone power bank charger kiosk, wet shoe drier, rain proof window and bus door umbrella (Cover U). The exhibition ends on 31 August and to-date feedback received have been very encouraging so don’t miss viewing these interesting exhibits by our students.
Brief note about the EID programme:
The Engineering, Innovation & Design or EID course is part of the 2nd year Mechanical & Aerospace Engineering (MAE) curriculum. The aim of this course is to enable students to experience some of the practical learning in preparation for an engineering or technopreneur career. The students will form into teams, supervised by mentor(s) and work on ideas which they will propose. Often they will use patent databases as well as other library resources in their search for ideas. The Course highlight is the Open House where teams will showcase their exhibits or projects. This year the EID Open House & Competition was held on Saturday 16th May 2015 at the SUNTEC Singapore International Convention & Exhibition Centre. Some of this year projects are in the process of becoming as start-ups and some have created commercial interest and are being eyed by companies!
