Good news – the EID exhibition is back again at Lee Wee Nam Library exhibition area! Last year Engineering Library worked with the School of Mechanical & Aerospace Engineering (MAE) to showcase, for the first time, student works for their EID (Engineering, Innovation & Design) programme at LWNL. This year we have more of these interesting projects like phone power bank charger kiosk, wet shoe drier, rain proof window and bus door umbrella (Cover U). The exhibition ends on 31 August and to-date feedback received have been very encouraging so don’t miss viewing these interesting exhibits by our students.
Visit Lee Wee Nam Library’s current exhibition, organised by NTU Libraries & NTU School of Mechanical & Aerospace Engineering (MAE), and take a look at a selection of Engineering Innovation and Design (EID) project models, posters, event photos and related books from NTU Libraries print collection. This is a rare opportunity to view the MAE-EID projects after their Open House Competition so catch it before the exhibition closes on 30 August 2014.
The Engineering Innovation and Design (EID) Programme is an integral part of the School of Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering second-year curriculum. All year 2 students will be required to take the EID course. The programme enables students to experience some of the practical learning in preparation for an engineering or technopreneur career in the new Knowledge Based Economy. Students propose team-based projects, plan and develop the team ideas under the guidance of mentors to develop innovation, business and technological skills. Students will use patent databases and other library resources in their search for ideas as well as consult with the MAE subject librarian. The programme culminates with an Open-House for all the projects and this year the EID Open House & Competition was held on Saturday 17th May 2014 at the Suntec Singapore International Convention & Exhibition Centre. 480 students were involved in 61 teams with an average team size of 8.
More library resources for MAE-EID students are available here.
MAE’s EID was first held in 1999. The number of students involved this year was 480 in 61 teams with an average team size of 8. Students are required to write a business plan, understand the importance of protecting intellectual property (IP) and more. Students are also required to focus on technopreneurship areas such as financing, marketing and project management.
