[Article]: Perspectives on Quality of Experience for Video Streaming over WiMAX

With the use of WiMAX, high-bandwidth video streaming services for mobile users can be achieved. However, the user’s Quality of Experience (QoE) needs to be monitored for video quality acceptance. For different use of the video streaming, the acceptance level may also vary.

The paper investigates video streaming over a WiMAX network and studies the impact of the user’s QoE using the Peak Signal-to-Noise Ratio at the representative metric. The simulated study showed that there are trade-offs exist among the various parameters which in term can be used to manage user’s viewing experience under varying channel conditions and wireless resource constraints.
