About this talk

Science 2.0 transformed and diversified scholarly communication and tools used in the research and publication process, including preprint servers, open peer review, open data repository, socialization of science, and network-based innovation. Research papers and their citations are no longer the only way to measure research impact at the dawn of altmetrics, which quantify online attentions to scientific research and research products in any form.

As governments mandate open research policy, the scientific community faces an urgent need for scientific communication infrastructure, where scientists themselves become entrepreneurs while other professions such as information professionals and publishers are finding ways to add value in the new paradigm.
