NTU Library is pleased to present a series of ten workshops on Machine Learning. The objective of this series is to equip NTU staff, students and alumni, with the basic expertise to apply different machine learning concepts and techniques to a wide range of applications using Microsoft Azure Machine Learning Service.

Each workshop presents a unique set of content relating to different machine learning concepts and techniques. Each is designed to stand on its own. For example, there is no requirement to attend MLJS03 before attending MLJS04. However, all interested participants are encouraged to attend MLJS01 on 29 May 2019.

Who Should Attend?

  • Individuals who have no prior knowledge about machine learning and want to have a quick and easy introduction to machine learning concepts with Azure Machine Learning Service
  • Individuals who, with or without prior knowledge about machine learning, want to use machine learning techniques in their present work (projects, research etc.)

Requirements

  • Basic knowledge of Python programming
  • Participants will need to bring their own laptops for each workshop

Trainer

Alvin Chew is currently a final-year PhD research student from the School of Civil and Environmental Engineering (CEE) in NTU. He is also Microsoft’s Cloud Research Software Fellow (CRSF) for a period of 6 months as starting from May 2019. His research focuses on leveraging engineering modelling methods with machine learning techniques to develop predictive models for various treatment technologies in the environmental and chemical engineering fields.

His latest project involves the integration of his ongoing research with Azure Cloud Services for novel applications as supported by Microsoft Asia CRSF award.
