Dear Dr Bourg,

Warm greetings from NTU and NTU Libraries!    Our University has recently formed a new Office of Information, Knowledge and Library Services. As part of the new visioning, positioning and planning for our library’s future, several of my staff and I are planning a series of study visits to a number of libraries to learn best practices and innovative ideas to inform our future planning and directions. A task force was set up for these visits, and we have identified MIT as one we would very much like to visit and learn from.

This is an exploratory note to see if you are open to having us visit and to check on your availability. We are currently considering the week of 20 February 2017 as a possible time to visit your library. If this is unsuitable or there are specific days and times around this week that work out better, please let me know. Our team is envisaged to be a small group of three librarians plus myself.

In particular, we are most interested in your bold new vision and strategic recommendations shared in the recent Future of Libraries report. If we could meet with colleagues to discuss these initiatives in depth, we would greatly appreciate it. We are also keen to have a look at the Barker Library and your institute archives and special collections.

Thank you for considering our request. After we hear back from the libraries we would like to visit, we will be in touch to make further arrangements.

I hope you will be able to accede to our request for the visit. I look forward to hearing from you soon!

Yours sincerely,

Schubert Foo
