NANYANG MBA

Aspiring To Greatness: Clark, Li He

Clark, Li He, Nanyang MBA Class of 2020

Having spent most of his career in China, Clark found himself in unfamiliar territory when he enrolled as a full-time MBA student with the Nanyang Business School (NBS) in July 2019. A strong interest in finance had motivated Clark to pursue an MBA. His aim is to land in a career in Finance after that.

Clark was not unfamiliar with the finance field, having taken up jobs as a financial reporter at Reuters to a business development role in a Securities firm to eventually a role as a regulator of the emerging financial technology sector in China, Clark had been able to show his strong work abilities.

It is on such achievements that Clark was nominated by NBS for the prestigious Oversea-Chinese Banking Corporation. Limited (OCBC) Scholarship. The scholarship, applicable to citizens of Chinese Nationality pursuing an MBA in Singapore and covers the full tuition fees, monthly living expenses as well as various allowances. In addition, recipients of the scholarship are given an opportunity to embark on a career with the bank after graduation. Recognising the suitability of Clark for the scholarship, NBS was very forthcoming to guide Clark through the scholarship application process and was willing to assist in every way possible.

Reflecting back on his interview process, Clark remarked that the scholarship selection process was very rigorous. There were several rounds of interviews with various senior executives of the bank. Clark felt that this showed the sincerity and importance that the bank was giving to the scholarship. This made Clark all the more assured of his choice and the efforts he had put in to prepare for it.

To prepare himself for the interview, Clark spent time researching on OCBC’s current strategies and how it can better seize opportunities in a business world that is increasingly volatile, uncertain, complex and ambiguous. This helped Clark have a better idea of a career with OCBC.

It was with great elation that Clark received the scholarship shortly after commencing his MBA studies. When asked on the scholarship and its benefits, Clark was deeply grateful for the scholarship as it helped to alleviate the financial pressure that comes with financing an MBA. Additionally, he also felt that the scholarship offered an opportunity for training and working in a prestigious bank. This allowed Clark to devote more time towards his studies as he was assured of a career with OCBC after his MBA studies.
