This year’s Library Association of Singapore-National Library Board (LAS-NLB) Professional Sharing on Artificial Intelligence and Libraries: Building Future-Ready Information Spaces took place on 26 May 2023 at Woodlands Regional Library Auditorium.

NTU Library’s Academic Engagement and LKC Medical Library librarians submitted a presentation titled “AI and Systematic Search Services : Moon-shot or Crash-landing?”. This presentation shared findings from a brief survey-investigation into the use of available AI tools to improve task efficiencies and overall content quality of systematic searching whilst reflecting on the current scenarios of researchers readily embracing these tools to help save time and resources in the conducting of systematic reviews.

For NTU faculty, research staff and students who are conducting systematic reviews, the NTU Systematic Search Services by NTU Library and LKCMedicine Medical Library offer a suite of advisory and collaboration services for them to connect with a librarian.

Would librarians’ roles in supporting researchers via the NTU Systematic Search Services see a premature end date, or would AI forecast potential enhancement of the service capabilities that librarians can offer to end users?

During the presentation, NTU librarian Ms Yasmin Ally expanded on these themes, discussing forecast scenarios of systematic review workflows for researchers as well as librarians supporting systematic search services to this group of users.
