This exchange programme aims to strengthen and expand the U.S.-Singapore people-to-people ties, institutional linkages, and bilateral scientific/cultural cooperation through a series of webinars (NTU-Smithsonian Webinar Wednesdays) and online workshops and exchanges jointly organized by NTU MA Museum Studies and Curatorial Practices(MA MSCP) and The Smithsonian’s Asian Cultural History Program (ACHP), within the Department of Anthropology of the National Museum of Natural History, which holds historical collections from Southeast Asia.
We conduct exchanges on collections-based research and best practices in museums and cultural institutions. We hope to improve the understanding and documentation of historic collections and intertwined histories of American and Singaporean Museums, as well as reflect on the development of curatorial practices and the use of digital technologies in the 21st Century. We also hope to expand the learning experience in Museum Studies in Singapore and that in the future, students and scholars in Singapore will be inspired by and take advantage of the arts management and museum studies programs and fellowships that are available from the Smithsonian and other institutions in the US.
This exchange is supported by the U.S. Embassy in Singapore.
