Research Fellow

Job Description:

  • Design and implementation of multilevel converters with integrated energy storage.
  • Facilitate smaller and lighter energy storage solutions by integrating multiple battery chemistries into a single battery energy storage system that simultaneously optimizes both power and energy density.
  • Design topologies to eliminate redundant layers of power electronics from a battery energy storage system (BESS) to achieve significant efficiency increase.
  • Design novel circuit topologies to provide physical and electrical isolation of batteries to prevent faulty battery packs causing a cascading fire risk.
  • Design and develop solar photovoltaic inverters with advanced controllers.
  • Guiding Master and PhD students and preparing project reports.

 

Job Requirements:

  • Candidate must possess a PhD degree in Electrical Engineering.
  • Hands-on experience on the design and development of multilevel converter topologies.
  • Experience on the development of grid connection control algorithms for power electronic converters.
  • Experience on the control of power electronics converters for renewables (wind, solar, wave).
  • Strong academic record and high-quality journal publications.
  • Industrial experience is not required but highly recommended.
  • Good interpersonal skills.
  • Excellent teamwork awareness;
  • Good communication and writing in English;
  • Strong responsibility for research / work.

Research Associate

Job Description:

  • Design and implementation of multilevel converters with integrated energy storage.
  • Design and implementation of power converters for solar photovoltaic systems.
  • PCB design of power converters for different applications.
  • Maintaining lab facilities and taking care of purchasing and other administrative tasks.
  • Supporting PhD/Master/FYP students in their lab developments.

 

Job Requirements:

  • Candidate must possess a Bachelor or Master degree in Electrical Engineering.
  • Hands-on experience on the design and development of power converters.
  • Expertise in PCB design of power converters for different applications.
  • Experience on the control of grid-connected power converters.
  • Being familiar with grid codes and standards for the integration of renewables in the grid.
  • Experience on digital control platforms and hardware-in-the-loop prototyping.
  • Strong academic record.
  • Industrial experience is required.
