How to do In-Text Citation in APA
APA in-text citation style uses the author’s last name and the year of publication, for example: (Field, 2005).
For direct quotations, include the page number as well, for example: (Field, 2005, p. 14).
For sources such as websites and e-books that have no page numbers, use a paragraph number, for example: (Field, 2005, para. 1).
Note: When a paragraph is about a single source and it is clear that all the paraphrasing is from that source, it is not necessary to give the citation each time. When giving direct quotes, page numbers are still needed.

APA Citation explained for an academic journal:
Kim, J., Merrill, K., & Song, H. (2020). Probing with Pokémon: Feeling of presence and sense of community belonging. The Social Science Journal, 57(1), 72-84. DOI: 10.1016/j.soscij.2018.11.005
In APA 7th edition
Author names are written last name-comma-first initial-period. They are separated by a comma, and the ampersand (&) is used to indicate “and”. APA lists all authors up to 20. (If there are more than 21 authors, the first 19 are listed and followed by an ellipsis and then the final author’s name.)
Immediately following the author(s), the year appears in parentheses and is followed by a period.
The title of the article comes next. Only the first letter, the first letter after a colon, and proper nouns are capitalized. A period comes at the end of the title.
The “container” of the article, in this case the journal, is written in italics with capitalization. It is followed by a comma then further publication details.
The journal’s volume number is written in italics and attached (no spacing) to the issue number, which isn’t italicized and appears in parentheses. This is followed by a comma and then the page numbers simply written as a numeral range.
If the article has a DOI number, it should be included at the end. It can be written as “DOI:…” like the example above or “https://doi.org/10.1016/j.soscij.2018.11.005”
