About

Pioneer Road: Journal of Undergraduate Research is an annual, peer-reviewed publication of student non-fiction essays and research papers, ranging in topics from Singapore culture to more general topics in the humanities and social sciences. The mission of Pioneer Road is to encourage, recognize, and reward intellectual activity beyond the classroom, while providing a forum for the exchange of research and ideas. Pioneer Road is run by the Language and Communication Centre (LCC), School of Humanities (SoH), Nanyang Technological University (NTU), Singapore.

Pioneer Road primarily publishes work produced by LCC students who are recommended by their tutor to submit a piece of work. All submitted papers undergo review by Pioneer Road’s team of editors. Selected papers are accepted for publication. Our editors work closely with the selected authors to revise and polish their papers to best communicate the authors’ ideas and inquiries.

The papers are published online as Open Access with free online access viewing by the public for educational, research and scientific non-profit use via the digital repository at Nanyang Technological University (DR-NTU).

There are two Call-for-Papers, one for each term of the Academic Year. The journal publishes a new volume in July. Each volume consists of 40-50 articles ranging from 1,500-2,500 words.
Pioneer Road’s first journal is July 2021.
