Working Principle

Brief overview

Our buoy will collect the relative data periodically – pH, temperature and turbidity – and send it the cloud. It will then be processed and charted through Soracom. When certain thresholds are met, signals will be sent to the respective onsite dispensers for dispense solutes into the water to ensure the water characteristics is back to its favorable levels.

Hardware

Buoy

The buoy collects data on the aforementioned characteristics periodically. The time interval of which the data is collected can be set to fit personal preferences.

Dispenser

The dispenser will house the solutes to change the pH and turbidity. It will be placed at the walls of the tanks. We will be relying on the water currents to disperse the solutes into the water over time.

Software

The diagram above shows the closed-loop system that connects all our components.

The sensors in the buoy will send the data on the water characteristic on the chosen interval and send it to the Cloud where it will be charted into readable graphs.

When any of the water characteristics has crossed the preset threshold, it will send a SMS to the employees on site to notify them of the situation. At the same time, it will also send a signal to the dispensers to dispense the respective solutes into the water until it is back within its acceptable range. The amount of solute to be dispensed has been calculated and written into the algorithm in the dispenser.
