10 June (Week 5): Let’s Get Down to It!

It’s been a full month since we’ve had an update, you’re probably wondering which idea we ended up picking. Unsurprisingly, we ended up picking the smart enclosure for small pets! (Because we have a pet-loving group leader and totally not because our other ideas got rejected.)

“Secretly I am an elitist. That’s why I separated the Poly and JC people,” said Vanessa as she parted the line between our JC front-end coders and Poly back-end coders. With our entire team ready to code and 3D print, let’s take a look at what we’ve got planned out for our smart enclosure!

We’re talking running wheel distance trackers, an air-conditioned part of the enclosure, smart weighing scales, humidity sensors, drink trackers, you name it. And to top it all off, we’re even making an app with its very own website for our pet owners to view and interpret all this data intuitively!

Check in with us next week when we’re going to give our first Project Presentation! See ya soon!

10 May (Week 1): Everybody Does a Thinkeroo!

After our first 3D Printing session, we thought it would be best to go back to the drawing board and generate ideas that would be good for prototyping! We all laid out at least an idea each. We ended up with a hydrostatic pressure sensor, a smart enclosure for small pets (by our beloved pet-loving group leader), a stabilizing plate that reduces shaking (great for Foodpanda riders!). On top of that, we also came up with smart gloves that could act as a mouse for lecturers, a membrane that can prevent food/oil from flowing down pipes, and finally a smart dustbin that could track the amount of waste accumulated across its lifetime.

However, we were still quite unsure about which idea to pick, so we booked a meeting with Dr Ho Shen Yong on 17 May (Week 2 Tuesday) to further discuss the feasibility of each idea.

Catch us next week to find out which idea ends up being our final project!
