Our Journey

2022
Formal Presentation 1

We presented our developed idea, illustrated with a block diagram and a hand-drawn prototype design, along with a Gantt Chart showing our projected schedule.

Creality Enders 3 Assembly & Testing of Pumps

[insert 3 different pics of the pumps]

We tested out different pumps that were readily available in the MnT lab to check for their power and suitability.

Procurement of Hardware Components
  1. Volcano Nozzle Head 1.2mm w/ Heater 40W J-head
  2. Pneumatic Connector J-head for PFTE tube
  3. Teflon white tube for 3D printer, J-head, 1m
  4. Nichrome wire 0.5mm x 10m
  5. INGCO Glue Codless Gun 12V
  6. Mini Hot Air Gun
Meeting with Prof Tan Ming Jen

We had a virtual meeting with Prof Tan as Prof Andy saw similarities in the obstacles that Prof Tan’s team (concrete 3D printing). Key takeaway points:

  1. Optimal heat and pressure to prevent clogging/air gaps
  2. Viscosity modifying agents
  3. Able to dictate the print path
Meeting with SC3DP

We were introduced to SC3DP to further discuss our project. SC3DP is currently working on fiber pills and blended vegetables. We learned more about their 3D food printing processes and methods. However, their experiments have not successfully incorporated heating elements due to clogging issues.

Collaboration with SCELSE

We have decided to collaborate with SCELSE,

3D Printer Assembly

Understanding of RAMPS 1.4 and its connections
Tested the printer with Marlin firmware and G-Code simulator
