[20/6/22] MnT Presentation and Other Updates

This was the first day all five of us got together to do MnT. As Fu Den has been working on the generator for quite some time, the rest of us worked on the assembly of the water filter.

Generator Updates

We tested the generator by manual cranking. RPM by manual cranking is very low, so we need to optimise by implementing gear ratios to maximise potential of producing power by optimising maximum rotational speed possible by hand cranking. Maximum voltage generated by AC generator with simple hand crank is around 10V without load.

Water Filter Updates

Things to buy:

  • 4 hose clamps
  • 2 x 1/2 inch hose straight barbed fitting to 1/4 inch adaptor
  • Tank for dirty water
  • Tank for clean water

First Group Check-in

We officially pitched our ideas to Dr Ho and several other profs/TAs and addressed any concerns they might have regarding our progress.

Some points to consider:

  • Why must there be a battery module connecting the generator and the pump? (There must be a solid reason why you choose to include certain parts in your prototype)
