5/7/22 | Procurement of some stuff |
6/7/22 | – Meeting with Dr Mukta – Tested Pump with Battery – Tried new water tank and it’s not ideal – Prefiltration step discussion? = coffee filter? tap filter? may not be so useful after all = may not even be super necessary – Arduino Discussion – Buying more stuff online (Need to buy another new water tank) |
7/7/22 | – Dismantling previous project to use Aluminium frame to fit filtration and pump system |

30/6/22 | Our third group meeting: more discussion on how to progress – aim to assemble entirety of electric power system by next week – discussion of how to organise placement of filtration system – discussion of implementing TDS system to verify water qualityGenerator Log 4 |
Week 7 (20/6/22 – 24/6/22)
20/6/22 | Generator Updates, Water Filter updates, first MnT presentation (Group Check-in) |
21/6/22 | Assembly of Water Filter |
22/6/22 | Meeting with Dr Mukta Further Progress with Water Filtration System |
23/6/22 | Generator Log 3 |
Week 6 (13/6/22 – 17/6/22)
15/6/22 | 3D printed parts for the generator are completed. Testing is required before further progress.
Printed parts:
|
16/6/22 – 17/6/22 | We tested the generator. Since direct cranking of the generator wouldn’t produce enough RPM, we decided that a pulley system should be printed to improve the rotation speed.
Subsequently, we designed the pulley system in Fusion360 and 3D printed the parts. |
Week 5 (6/6/22 – 10/6/22)
We lost Floretta (she flew to Brisbane for OLT!) and Ze Ming (he flew to Zurich for OLT!) 😞
Clarissa contracted COVID-19 too 😞
However, there was progress on the AC Generator.
Week 4 (30/5/22 – 3/6/22)
We lost Clarissa and Hai Xiang this week as they were overseas (enjoying their OLT in Paris!!!) 😞
Week 3 (23/5/22 – 27/5/22)
24/5/22 | Our second group meeting.
We exhausted our mental capacities to come up with new ideas, ranging from a mechanically powered water filter to an automated titration machine. Specifically, the mechanically powered water filter would comprise two parts, the generator and the water filter. Eventually, we settled on the water filter idea to pitch to Dr Ho and Tony. |
25/5/22 | We discussed our ideas with Tony to assess the feasibility of the water filter idea. He felt that the project was good given our abilities, but suggested broadening the scope to a mechanically powered power bank instead. This would give more versatility as different modules/appliances/devices could be attached to the power bank to draw on the mechanically-generated electricity. |
27/5/22 | The day of our official pitch of the mechanically powered water filter to Dr Ho.
Dr Ho seemed to be perfectly fine with the idea, so we went ahead and started purchasing the items we required to make the water filtration system. |
Week 2 (16/5/22 – 20/5/22)
18/5/22 | Welcome Fu Den to the team!
We also had our first group meeting to introduce our team members and our ideas to Fu Den. |
20/5/22 | Our first meeting with Tony!
We presented our worm robot idea to Tony but he shot it down (despite Dr Ho being enthusiastic about it), explaining that it was not possible for us to complete the project within three months. Moreover, as none of us had any robotics background, the learning curve would be exceptionally steep. Back to the drawing board, we go. |
Week 1 (9/5/22 – 13/5/22)
9/5/22 | Our MnT journey started with the admin briefing and four lost souls who were deprived of ideas. |
10/5/22 | We had a 3D printing class introducing us to Autodesk Fusion 360 and the 3D printers around the MnT lab. |
11/5/22 | Our first meeting with Dr Ho!
We wanted to create a worm robot that could perform search and rescue in disaster-stricken areas. |
