Planning

Rough sketch of our block diagram

Experimenting with the Existing Product and Equipment in the Lab

Checking out existing batteries in the lab

Examining the gear system of the existing servo motor from the lab

Some of the existing servo motor from the lab only allows rotations of 180

Hence, our boys modified the gears to enable us to crank it 360

We attached a hand crank to an existing servo motor from the lab, and tried cranking it

Shopping

Serious shopping mode on 💯

Testing the Products that we Brought

Tested the wireless charging coil we that brought and found out it was a transmitter and receiver

(That's why they came in a pair LOL 😂)

Assessed the batteries that we bought with a battery tester

Experimenting with the buck/boost convertor that we bought

1st Presentation

A photo to commemorate Plan Bee 1st presentation 😃

Learning New Skills

Soldering

Arduino

Progress of Software (Arduino)

Coded our team's logo and displayed on a 0.96-inch screen of ESP32

Progress of Hardware

Modifying the hand crank

  • Constructed a 3-phase rectifier with old diodes

  • Modified servo motor to make it a generator

  • Secured hand crank to generator

We managed to generate ~ 3 V with the modified 35kg torque servo motor

Learning New Skills

Crash course on designing PCB board

30 Jun 2022

We 3D printed the lid of our power bank and attached to the modified servo motor and hand crank

A little comic below hehe 😁

3D Printing

We 3D printed a few variations of our logo! 🐝

Printing housing for our power bank

Arduino

Generating code to monitor voltage, current and power with INA3221 and ESP32

Generating code to monitor voltage, current and power with INA3221 and Arduino Uno

PCB

Successfully designed PCB for the 3-Phase Rectifier!

Arduino

Successful communication between sensors and display using ESP32!

2nd  Presentation

Our display

Connecting them together for demo

Yay done with the 2nd Presentation!

🚧 Roadblock 🚧

A gear in our generator become blunt, hence there were slips while cranking the generator. Luckily, we bought spare gears and could replace the damaged gear. Phew 😌

We also considered an alternative (to modify a DC motor for our generator)

🚌 Bus Trip Towards Civilization 🌃

Leaving school at about 8pm!! (ft. the dark sky outside the bus)

💕Dedication towards our project!!

Arduino

Successfully coded our team's logo and displayed on ILI9341 a 2.4-inch screen of ESP32

(We upgraded our screen!!)

Constructed a menu that could be toggled with an encoder! (Click the link below to view 😀)

Link: Menu

Housing

3D Printed a handle and secured it to the pepper-grinder crank (It is dual functional now 🤩)

Display

Adding alternative generators to our display

Using 3D printed parts to secure them

Your typical photoshoot with a white wall as the background…

Plan Bee (ft. En Xi)

Arduino

- Done sampling and reduced refresh time

Housing

- Made adjustments to the handle to allow it to be taken out easily

P.S. I was introduced to Canva…

Upcoming posts design will be more consistent 🙂

Stay tune to Plan Bee!!

Team bonding while taking a break from our project…

Have a Break, Have a Darts + Futsal Session hahaha

Done piecing the internal components all together for one of our power bank design (rectangular) …

Working hard to complete a functional prototype…

Greetings from Plan Bee!! All the best for finals!!

Stay tune we will be back soon 🙂

Yay done with the final presentation!!

We won the best project award at the exhibition!!

It was a very memorable journey making the Plan Bee Hand Crank Power Bank.

Hope everyone enjoyed reading our blog 🙂

This concludes the plan bee journey…
