Progress Report: 20 Jun – 26 Jun

Many of the purchased components arrived this week. We have started working in the lab from this week onwards!

Design

We started designing components on Fusion 360. The original designs were too bulky and could not be 3D printed. After hearing from lab staff’s suggestions and discussing among our group, we decided to use an elevated acrylic table for compensation of height. The following two structures are our final design for housing/supporting the stepper motors.

3D Printing

Qi Jie from MnT lab was kind enough to show us how to use the 3D printers. The above two components are printed multiple times before final designs are obtained. Many thanks to Qi Jie! 🙂

Coding & Testing

We performed some preliminary testing on the stepper motors and discussed about what to do next for the rest of the components.
