It all began with the fascination with the game ‘Mario Kart Live’. We found it interesting how the real world can be integrated into the game, making for a more interactive gameplay. Following this idea, we proposed making a game with some real-world elements as a possible project for us to do.

Having proposed this idea to Dr Ho, he suggested doing something similar for Gorilla.bas, a game from the 90s. We played it ourselves and found that it was a pretty fun game (psst… you can play it here!). Additionally, we could see why the physics professor liked the game as it relied heavily on the concept of projectile motion.
Following closely to Mario Kart Live, we had ambitious plans to use things like AR and object tracking to add real-world elements to the gameplay. We were deep in our creative brainstorming and suggested any and every idea that came to mind. This included having a physical launcher but virtual interface to show the buildings & gorillas. Boy were we excited to embark on this project!
