We did some acoustic testing for three blades and found that the blades we labelled as “best” and “not best” are relatively quiet, while “long boi”, the asymmetric fan, turned out to be pretty noisy, with a high percentage of low frequencies.
From a video we referenced, an asymetric blade design, which “long boi” is based after, should shift higher noise frequencies to the lower end, which would ideally give us an illusion of less noise. While this indeed occurs, “long boi” was still noisy due to a high percentage of lower frequencies.
In addition, we noticed that the thicker and taller design of “long boi” thicker also made it much less stable on the motor shaft.
